ABSTRACT

OBJECT IVE To study the effects and potential mechanism of saltwater stir-baked Eucommia ulmoides on kidney-yang deficiency in rats. METHODS Ninety SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group (15 rats) and modeling group (75 rats). Modeling group was given adenine intragastrically to establish kidney-yang deficiency model. After modeling, modeling group were randomly divided into model group ,positive control group (Guifu dihuang tablet 2.5 g/kg), low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose groups of saltwater stir-baked E. ulmoides (1.5,3,6 g/kg),with 15 rats in each group. Administration groups were given relevant medicine intragastrically ,normal control group and model group were given normal saline intragastrically ,once a day ,for consecutive 8 weeks. The body weight of rats was measured before modeling and after medication. The score of kidney-yang deficiency syndrome was performed after medication. The levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine (SCR),testosterone(T)and cortisol (COR)in serum and superoxide dismutase (SOD)activity, malondialdehyde(MDA)level in renal tissue were detected. The pathological changes of renal tissue were observed after HE staining. Relative expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor- 1 α(HIF-1 α)and signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (STAT5) mRNA in renal tissue were detected by RT-PCR. The relative expressions of HIF- 1α,STAT5 and phosphorylated STAT 5 (p-STAT5)protein and the ratio of gray values of p-STAT 5 and STAT 5(p-STAT5/STAT5)in renal tissue were detected by Western blot. RESULTS Before modeling ,there was no statistical significance in body weight of rats in each group (P>0.05). After medication, compared with model group , pathological changes of renal tissue were all recovered in saltwater stir-baked E. ulmoides groups and positive control group , while body weight ,the level of T in serum and SOD activity qq.com in renal tissue were all increase d significantly (P<0.05). The scores of kidney-yang deficiency syndrome ,levels of BUN , SCR and COR in serum ,MDA level in renal tissue ,the relative expressions of HIF- 1α and STAT5 mRNA,the relative expressions of HIF- 1α,STAT5 and p-STAT 5 protein as well as p-STAT5/STAT5 were all significantly decre ased (P<0.05). The above effects of saltwater stir-baked E. ulmoides were in dose-dependent manner (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS Saltwater stir-baked E. ulmoides can significantly relieve renal tissue damage in rats with kidney-yang deficiency ,decrease the levels of BUN ,SCR and COR in serum ,increase the level of T in serum ,the mechanism of which may be associated with anti-oxidative stress and inhibition of the expression of HIF- 1α and STAT5 protein.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the relationship between non-sentinel lymph node ( NSLN ) metastases and clinicopathologic features in breast invasive ductal carcinoma patients with 1, 2 positive sentinel lymph node(SLN). Methods A total of one hundred and ninety-eight patients with breast invasive ductal carcinoma from January 2013 to December 2017 were enrolled in this prospective study. Modified radical mastectomy was performed after SLN1-2 positive cases were confirmed by biopsy. Postoperative NSLN was counted and the relationship between NSLN and clinical factors was analyzed. Results The positive rate of NSLN in 198 patients was 40. 9%(81/198),of which 80 cases were positive at axillary level I and only 1 case was positive at axillary level I and II. There was no significant correlation between NSLN positive and age (χ2=1. 258),lesion grade (χ2=1. 327),molecular typing (χ2=1. 020),neoadjuvant chemotherapy (χ2=0. 923),estrogen receptor (χ2=0. 189),progesterone receptor ( χ2=0. 109),Ki67 ( χ2=1. 755) ( P>0. 05). The positive rate of NSLN in HER-2 positive patients was 56. 9%(29/51),which was significantly higher than 35.4%(52/147) in HER-2 negative patients (χ2 =6.136,P=0.034).Logistic regression analysis showed that HER-2 positive was an independent risk factor for NSLN ( OR=0. 031,95%CI 0. 012-0. 615,P=0. 022) . Conclusion The risk of NSLN positive in breast cancer patients such as SLN1-2 positive patients is still high, and the risk of NSLN positive in HER-2 positive patients is higher.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:O-arm navigation integrates CT image quality and the flexible mobility of the C-arm. Surgery for severe spinal deformity is very difficult, with high incidence of nerve injury, so it is a chalenging surgery for spinal surgery. The role of O-arm in the correction of spinal deformity is particularly important. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect and safety of pedicle screw placement in severe spinal deformity under the guidance of O-arm navigation system. METHODS:Clinical data of 25 patients with severe spinal deformity with the aid of O-arm navigation were retrospectively analyzed. We observed pedicle screw insertion, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, correction of scoliosis and correction of kyphosis, and assessed the safety of screw insertion. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Totaly 326 pedicle screws were implanted in 25 patients. According to NEO classification, 280 pedicle screws (92%) belonged to grade 0 (no perforation of pedicle cortex). Grade 1: perforation of pedicle cortex, 2 mm, 4 mm, including 0 screw (0%). (2) Operation time was (272.3±17.3) minutes. Intraoperative blood loss was (1 710.0±229.1) mL. (3) Cobb angle of scoliosis was changed from (70.5±6.0)° preoperatively to (22.8±4.8)° postoperatively. Cobb angle of kyphosis was changed from (72.0±5.2)° preoperatively to (28.1±5.7)° postoperatively. Significant differences were detected (P< 0.05). (4) These findings verify that with the guide of the O-arm navigation system, the accuracy of screw insertion is high. The risk of intraoperative nerve injury was reduced. The scoliosis and kyphosis deformity were improved effectively.

ABSTRACT

Aim To investigate the effect of chronic intermittent hypobaric hypoxia ( CIHH) on the paeonol induced vasomotion of isolated rat ’ s thoracic aorta rings and its underlying mechanisms. Methods Spra-gue-Dawlay ( SD ) rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: control group ( CON ) and CIHH treatment group ( CIHH) . CIHH rats were exposed to hypoxia in a hypobaric chamber simulating 5 000 m altitude, 6 hours daily for 28 days. CON rats lived in the same en-vironment as CIHH animals except hypoxia. Organ bath technique was used to observe the effect of pae-onol on isolated thoracic aorta rings of rats. Results There were no significant differences of noradrenaline ( NE )- and KCl-induced contraction in thoracic aorta rings among CIHH and CON rats;CIHH enhanced va-sodilative effects of paeonol on isolated thoracic aorta rings of rats; the vasodilative effects on CIHH rats could be partly decreased by β-receptor blocker prop-ranolol,ATP-sensitive potassium channel ( KATP ) bloc-ker glibenclamide and NO synthase inhibitor L-NAME. Paeonol significantly inhibited NE-induced intracellular and extracellular calcium-dependent contraction in CIHH rats. Paeonol didn ’ t inhibit NE-induced con-traction by intracellular calcium release and its inhibi-tory effect couldn ’ t be blocked by glibenclamide in CON. Vasodilative effects of paeonol couldn ’ t be re-versed by indomethacin, a cyclooxygenase inhibitor, in CIHH and CON rats. Conclusion CIHH significantly enhances vasodilative effects of paeonol on isolated tho-racic aorta rings of rats. Besides promoting the signa-ling pathway of paeonol in CON, CIHH significantly enhances vasodilative effects of paeonol via activating KATP and inhibiting Ca2+ release from sarcoplasmic re-ticulum.

ABSTRACT

Affine motion is common during PROPELLER magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in abdomen or other soft tissues. The current algorithm, up till now, for affine motion compensation is based on frequency domain, which compensates the motion in k space and then reconstruct the final image based on gridding method. But aliasing and some tiny artifacts may exist. This paper proposed a new algorithm for affine motion compensation based on image domain. Firstly, exact affine motion information was obtained through the image registration, secondly k space coordinate was corrected for compensating the k space strips sampling density, then the images obtained from inverse FFT was compensated using motion information, finally the final results were composited after rotation. The experimental results showed that the proposed method could more effectively suppress the motion artifacts compared to the current algorithm.
